Experience: the most brutal of teachers. But you learn, my god do you learn. - C.S. Lewis
Male Wolf
Oake is certainly one of the most complex guys you'll meet. His life started on the wrong side of the tracks. Abused, and used, Oake was made into a vicious, fighting, killing machine. But, when a battle he was in couldn't be won, he was left for dead... And almost did die. But, when he was graced with the kindness of a sweet couple, who treated him like a brother, Oake began to change.. And when their untimely death wracked his life, he took their daughter Ruth under his wing. Oake began to change even more, then. He became kind, though callous, protective, though gentle with her. While he can be intimidating to those that don't know him, Oake is certainly not dangerous to Ruth. He could even be considered her best friend and an honorary uncle.

History
Oake grew up on the wrong side of the law. As a young pup, his parents abandoned him on the streets where he was found by a corrupt and manipulative mastiff. The older dog raised him, using the growing wolf pup to do his bidding and punishing him when he didn't meet the standards set for him. He learned quickly to be tough, cold, and - most of all - cruel. Through his life lessons, he learned that the weak did not survive and was determined not to be one of the losers. When he was still just a teenager he killed his master and fled from his former home of torture. For years, he traveled the land finding odd jobs and using his muscle and intimidating demeanor to live.
Eventually, this led him to a fight that he couldn't win and by the end of it he was left to die in some field outside of some city he didn't know. It was here that his life would change for the better. As it so happened, a young couple by the name of Milton and Cheri happened to be passing by that day. Without any questions or regards to their own safety, they took him in and nursed him to health. When he was better, they offered him a job. Milton and Cheri were just starting to make their fortune in the candy business and offered him the position as a bodyguard for him. Reluctantly and suspiciously, Oake accepted the position. It wasn't long before he was lured in by the family's good nature and loving attitudes, taking his job of protecting them more seriously as he got to know them. Milton became a best friend and brother to him while Cheri ... well, to be honest, he was a little bit in love with her but he easily pushed his own feelings aside to treat her like a sister. As their fortune grew, so did their household and he was promoted from 'bodyguard' to 'head of security' with a handful of dogs working under his watch.
He was overjoyed when they had their first pup - a precocious little thing named Ruth and often helped in raising the young bundle. With no other family but their daughter who was too young to completely understand death, it was he who mourned the hardest after their accident. However, after years of practice, he was able to keep himself together and his emotions in order to follow Milton and Cheri's final wishes. When Ruth was old enough, they wanted her to have control over the company (to do with as she pleased whether it was run the business or sell it) but until then they wanted Oake to take Ruth to the smaller house that they lived in so many years ago and raise her in the valley, away from others who would try to use her.
