Brave • Friendly • Outgoing
I am fate with a badge and a gun. Behind my badge is a heart like yours. I bleed, I think, I love, and yes; I can be killed. And although I am but one man, I have thousands of brothers and sisters who are the same as me. They will lay down their lives for me, and I them. We stand watch together. The thin-blue-line, protecting the prey from the predators, the good from the bad. We are the police. - End of Watch

Male Boxer x German Shepherd
It's difficult being the sheriff in a town that tends to attract people running from their pasts - including many criminals - but Brigadier manages to walk that line fairly well and keep the town from dissolving into total chaos. He has a firm rule that he will forgive your sins from outside the town's boundary (within reason, of course - he's not about to (knowingly) house a mass murderer or someone who hurt a kid, for example) as long as you behave within the town. He's managed to maintain the loyalty of both law-abider and criminal alike and often has criminals dissolving situations in his stead in order to maintain the peace in town. Deeply sympathetic, he's one to listen and truly care about your troubles but at the same time, he's definitely not one that you want against you. Between growing up in a prestigious police academy and earning the respect from the criminal underground, he can - and will - destroy you to the full extent of the law and you will have no where you can run that he can't reach. Of course, when you actually meet him it's difficult to imagine that he has that much power. A complete dork, he can often be found gushing about the latest episode of his favorite television show and has been known to cosplay (of course, then he'll get that steely look in his eye and you'll realize where his notoriety comes from). He's also not afraid to embarrass himself if it means making someone else smile and the word "ridiculous" has been used to describe him more than once.

• Best friends with Flame. Met when Brig was being raised at the academy and Flame was going through the program. Despite the age gap, they hit it off and Brig worked with Flame at the Dallas PD for a few years after graduating before becoming sheriff of the valley. Since then, Flame has retired and also moved to the valley.
• Works with Booty. As Sheriff and Mayor, they tend to work closely with each other ... even if they constantly seem to be butting heads. He knows that she's involved with criminal operations but has thus been unable to prove it (or maybe doesn't want to since he's developing a grudging respect for her).
• Friends with Stetson. Stetson is his loyal deputy and keeps things light in the department.
• Friendly rivals with Captain. They'll share a drink while railing against the other's profession.
• Friends with Trooper, an ex-FBI agent who gets called in for missing persons cases and the like.
• Friends with Mara. He started looking out for her shortly after she arrived and is now a bit of a big brother figure to her.
• Friends/drinking buddies with Ivy, Kealey, Dooley, Dahmer, Caddock and Vanora. All are either ex-military or ex-government (police, FBI, etc.) and get together to drink once in awhile.

- Was once convinced to sing during a charity auction ... he can't sing as the poor crowd quickly found out.
- His German Shepherd police plush was a joke graduation gift from Flame ... jokes on Flame, Brig adores it and keeps it in a place of pride on his mantle. Flame's real gift was the pearl handled army issued colt revolver and is Brig's weapon of choice during his day to day duties.

His Story
Brigadier doesn't remember anything of his life before he was abandoned as a young puppy outside of a police dog academy. Several of the older members of the academy took him in and it was through them that he learned his unwavering morals ... as well as how to pass the time with a game of poker. His childhood was fairly normal despite being raised by a whole team of police dogs although it was definitely filled with more fights than normal due to his refusal to back down from any injustice.
Because of his constant exposure to the life, he was able to graduate from the academy at a fairly young age but rather than accepting a job right away he decided to explore first. He jumped from police station to police station (the longest being his stint with the Dalls PD and his good friend Flame) as well as just wandered aimlessly for a few years. Eventually he was recommended to the valley where others though his personality would be perfect to take over the recently vacated job as sheriff after the former sheriff retired and moved away.
He had to learn a bit different way of policing here than anywhere else. Many of the 'criminals' in town weren't bad guys but where just doing what came natural to get by and some were even really good people just doing things in a less-than-legal way. He learned to turned a blind eye to things that weren't actually hurting anyone and fell seamlessly into his role as the sheriff of a town comprised of many who were running from their pasts.
