No big deal. - Captain Elizabeth Kealey while showing her mother a picture of bullet holes in her helicopter after deployment
Female Belgian Malinois
When you first meet Captain Kealey, you're first struck by her mystical laugh. She has this laugh that infects others and makes everyone almost roll in laughter by itself. Her smile is similar, in that it makes everyone else feel happy as well. She's noble and kind, lending a helping paw to all those who even halfway look like they need it. But, she's also a little overbearing and stubborn; and doesn't tend to be scared of anything. She always overcomes the odds; no matter what is thrown her way or how long it takes her to do it. One of the most intimidating things about her is the fact that she hardly ever looks sad, and when she is feeling down doesn't let it show. She can be described as strong, but she will always just laugh and shake her head when asked how she does it; because quite frankly she isn't even sure. Kealey is more than just a pretty face, though. She is incredibly intelligent and kind, and could possibly be described as everyone's first friend.

- Definitely not a morning person and should not be bothered until she has had that first cup of coffee (which she will then proceed to practically mainline throughout the rest of the day).

About the Inspiration - Captain Elizabeth Kealey
It began even before I got out of the Marine Corps. I needed help and Captain Elizabeth Kealey stepped up to the plate and helped me with my (numerous) problems. She was absolutely amazing during this time and I will never forget her going above and beyond what she was expected to do. There were times when I was stressed and going crazy that she would just take me aside and talk to me. If I saw her after a flight, I loved to ask her how it went because I loved to hear her tales and it was obvious that she loved flying.
Cut to a few months after I got out ... I checked my Facebook one day to find that my brothers and sisters back in California (and all over the world, as the discharged ones like me started to catch up to the story) had all switched their profile pictures to our unit's symbol - the Viper Cross. There had been a helicopter crash during a training exercise and two pilots had been lost. Of course, no one was saying any names in respect to the families and to the fallen. I had worked with many officers during the last few months of my enlistment and was dreading hearing that any of them had been lost.
Well, a few days later they released their names. One was a newer officer who I didn't recognize but he was still a brother and so his loss saddened me. The second name floored me. I could still remember the tenacious officer with the laugh that would suddenly burst out of her and send the entire room to laughing and - I will admit - I cried at her loss.
After awhile I decided that I wanted a character created after her - and after the unit that had been my home for several years. I finally decided on Goldylawks (#1216014) for an artist and sent her a list of ideas that she managed to compile perfectly.

(Semi-Fictional) History
At a young age Kealey had a drive to excel. If there was anything that seemed impossible or anything that she was told she couldn't do, it was certain that she would attempt it ... and most of the time she managed to overcome whatever obstacle stood in her path. She rarely got questions wrong on tests and other parents would often compare their own child's score to hers - after all, if she had gotten several wrong then their own child getting a few wrong as well was looked at as a suddenly much better score. During her school days she ran through a series of sports ranging from tennis to volleyball, softball to hockey before finally settling into cross country. Colleges clambered for her attendance but she had made up her mind years ago on what she was going to do - she was going to follow in the footsteps of her later father (who had died in combat when she was a young pup) and join the Naval Academy. She had also decided that she was going to join the most difficult branch of service and take the most difficult job ... a helicopter pilot in the Marine Corps.
Even at the naval academy she excelled and it wasn't long before she was an officer in the United States Marine Corps, flying helicopters and inspiring those under her command. Unfortunately, something went wrong one day resulting in the crash of the UH-1Y Huey that she was piloting resulting in the death of her co-pilot and the two crew chiefs aboard. She spent several months in rehabilitation from her own injuries before receiving an early discharge.
She returned home to her family for almost a year, adjusting to civilian life before going back to college to earn a degree as an elementary school teacher. After receiving her degree, a friend recommended that she apply at the school in the valley where a teacher happened to be retiring later that year.

Her (fictional) role
Kealey continues to excel and adores her job as an elementary teacher. She enjoys helping to sculpt young minds and they love her understanding, caring nature. She also enjoys hanging out with some of the other ex-military members in town. Recently she's taken Raksha under her wing after realizing that he needs all the help he can get.
