Male English Labrador
Cole can be quite abrasive and never seems to know his own limits, often refusing to admit that he can't do something well past the point of common sense. He's a bit of a punk with a bad attitude ... while still managing to be a complete sweetheart deep down. While not initially viewed as intelligent, he is extremely resourceful and has a wealth of street smarts. He is naturally wary and it takes a lot for him to trust ... probably because he's had his own sticky fingers from time to time.

HIstory
Colby's mother was never what one could consider maternal. When he was just a pup, she abandoned him to run off with some rich Borzoi. He quickly adapted to life on the streets, being taken under the wing of some old stray mutt for several years until his mentor passed away. As a pup, he learned how to feign an innocent look to lull others into a false sense of security before making off with their valuables. As he got older, he developed a new strategy involving a subtle pickpocket before making off with his prize. He also started entering street fights which he proved to be good at - earning more money than he had seen before ... which wasn't actually very much. It was at one of these fights that he first met his 'business partner' who was looking for someone who could break into homes and 'repossess' belongings. The money was good enough - and his morals low enough - that he accepted the job offer.
The first houses he broke into were relatively simple dealings and gave him an overconfidence that led to him being busted during his 5th heist. He had just located his objective - an old, leather bound book - when a calm voice caused him to nearly jump out of his fur. He turned around and got his first good look at Delaney who was watching him with an eerie calm and almost amusement considering the circumstances. Delaney had just smiled, inclining his head toward the book behind Cole, telling him that he was welcome to it since Delaney had finished translating it just that morning ... if he promised to return and help Del out with some tasks around the house.
Thanking his good luck - and the older male's gullibility - Cole fled with the book and a promise to return that he never intended to keep ... and yet he somehow found himself returning the next week, intrigued by the circumstances (especially after learning just how much the book was worth). Delaney hadn't look surprised at his return and set him about doing odd tasks around the house.
